Gary was taught to fish by his father, he then went on to buy his own commercial fishing licence.
Gary conducts his professional fishing operation under a voluntary Code of Practice (EGEFA COP) an Environmental Management System (VBIFA EMS) and in accordance with the Victorian Fisheries Act 1995 and the Victorian Fisheries Regulations 2009. He also assists Fisheries Victoria with research work, to ensure that fish stocks are healthy for future generations.
His professional fishing operation is also licensed by PrimeSafe Victoria, the state food safety regulator.
Gary has experience in food safety auditing (RAB QSA) and has a Diploma of the Seafood Industry (Fishing Operations).
His Professional fishing operation has also been successfully assessed against the Commonwealth Government's "Aquatic Animals Welfare Guidelines", to ensure that his catch is treated in an ethical manner.
He has done his utmost to ensure that the seafood consumers of Victoria, have access to the freshest, healthiest, most sustainable and ethically caught seafood possible.
Working from a small 17 foot boat, Gary proudly provides the Victorian public with fish species such as : Southern Black Bream, Yelloweye Mullet, Tailor, Silver Trevally, Dusky Flathead, Sea Mullet, Luderick, Australian Salmon and Prawns.
Gary and his fellow fishers, strive to continually refine their practices, to ensure that the great product that is "Victorian Seafood", is available for generations to come.
